Unforgettable Cities to Ring
in the New Year

Where will you ring in the new year? From Las Vegas to Dubai to New York, we’re taking a look at the best places to be on New Year’s Eve, along with what to do before and after the big event.

See the lights in Las Vegas

You wouldn’t expect New Year’s Eve in Las Vegas to be a subtle affair, now, would you? The entire Las Vegas Strip is closed to vehicle traffic starting at 6:00 pm, creating a party zone 4 miles (6 kilometres) long for more than 300,000 people. Come midnight, you can watch an astonishing 80,000 fireworks hit the sky in less than 10 minutes.

Over on Fremont Street, the iconic America’s Party is a slightly less frenzied carnival. Expect live music; pyrotechnics displays; and digital fireworks displayed on Viva Vision, the world’s largest LED canopy screen, as the clock ticks to midnight and the new year begins. For a look back, pop into Atomic Liquors, the oldest freestanding bar in the city, offering cocktails and beers on tap, a laid-back crowd and décor that the Rat Pack would commend.

“For elevated cuisine and views to match, Rivea is a great spot,” says Denise Della Rocca, Chef Concierge at Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas. “After dinner, have drinks at Skyfall Panoramic Barr & Lounge and take in the drama of the Strip at night, lit by fireworks. Skyfall offers a great lounge atmosphere that is a bit more relaxed than a traditional club setting.”

Dine out in Hong Kong

With its soaring skyscrapers, majestic junk boats and aerial island views, the undeniable magic of Hong Kong makes it the perfect place for an unforgettable New Year’s Eve. For drinking and dining out, “the best New Year’s Eve parties are in Central,” says Cissie Chan, Assistant Chef Concierge at Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong, referring to a popular maze of streets in the city’s centre. “Coa and Quinary are award-winning bars in close proximity. And our own award-winning bar, ARGO, at the Hotel gives people another amazing venue to consider for parties.”

Chan also suggests making reservations at nearby 8 1/2 Otto e Mezzo Bombana for Michelin-starred Italian cuisine; Shikigiku Japanese Restaurant at IFC Mall for kaiseki, sashimi and teppanyaki; New Punjab Club – the first Punjabi restaurant in the world to be awarded a Michelin star – for flavourful dishes like malai tikka, tandoori jhinga and samosa chaat; or neo-Parisian restaurant Belon for their signature whole-roasted chicken.

To ring in the new year, you can also indulge in an eight-course tasting dinner at the Hotel’s Lung King Heen, the world’s first Cantonese restaurant to be awarded the coveted Michelin three-star rating.

Celebrate by landmarks in London

Set in the heart of the city, Four Seasons Hotel London at Tower Bridge is steps away from some of London’s most historic sites, such as Tower Bridge and the Tower of London. It’s also in the heart of the action during festive season, when twinkling Christmas markets and cozy fireside pubs easily make the city one of Europe’s most charming holiday settings.

Start your celebration with a stroll along St. Katharine Docks, a historic 1828 marina that is now home to restaurants and stores, before browsing the high-end boutiques at The Royal Exchange. Sit down for a meal at The Ivy Tower Bridge restaurant, a British brasserie overlooking the River Thames, or gather with friends for some seasonal mulled wine at iconic pub The Blackfriar. For New Year’s Eve, toast your time together with champagne and a decadent dinner at the Hotel’s Michelin-starred French restaurant, La Dame de Pic London, before a fireworks display lights up landmarks like the London Eye and Big Ben. “It’s quite a time to come together,” says Stephanie Raimbault, General Manager at La Dame de Pic London.

The party continues the next morning, when guests can greet the new year with breakfast in the elegant Rotunda Bar and Lounge before watching the king’s horses, floats, bands and dancers file through the capital in London’s New Year’s Day Parade.

Visit a temple on New Year’s Day in Tokyo

With its ornate temples, eclectic art galleries and world-class food scene, Tokyo has earned its spot as one of the world’s top culture capitals. Although New Year’s is a quieter time in the city, with some museums and restaurants closed for the holiday, there is still much to discover.

Areas like Roppongi and Shibuya, where there are a lot of Japanese pubs, will be crowded with young people, notes the Concierge team at Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Marunouchi. Cotton Club, just a short walk from the Hotel, is known for hosting live jazz in the evenings. The team also suggests taking a trip to the Sensō-ji temple for hatsumōde, the first visit to a Shinto shrine or Buddhist temple of the Japanese New Year.

To welcome 2025, the Hotel will be offering an exclusive menu curated by Executive Chef Daniel Calvert at SÉZANNE to ring in the new year. Or book yourself a Winter Retreat at the Spa to start the year refreshed and renewed.

Take in the fireworks in Dubai

Home to one of the world’s tallest buildings and a shopping mall in the top five for size, Dubai doesn’t hold back on its impressive New Year’s Eve celebration. In 2014, it even broke the Guinness World Record for the biggest fireworks display.

New Year’s is a great opportunity to celebrate the mix of cultures and people in Dubai, and Four Seasons Resort Dubai at Jumeirah Beach offers a versatile home base for your celebrations. Reserve your spot at Mercury Rooftop and enjoy incredible views of both the Resort’s own fireworks display as well as the show at Burj Khalifa.

Further down the Arabian Gulf, you’ll find the Dubai Marina’s glamorous waterfront promenade as well as Souk Madinat Jumeirah, an Arabic-style bazaar that sells eclectic jewellery and textiles. For views of the Burj Khalifa, take a tour around the lagoon bordering the souk aboard a traditional abra, a low-riding wooden ferryboat.

Celebrate with locals in Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires presents visitors with a “big three”: See a tango show at Salón Marabú, see works by Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera at MALBA: The Latin American Art Museum of Buenos Aires, and see a ballet or opera performance at Teatro Colón.

On New Year’s Eve, the Puente de la Mujer is ideal for sweeping views of the fireworks over the Puerto Madero waterfront, while the while the Palermo Soho neighbourhood is a hot spot for nightclubs and dance parties.

Once the revelry subsides, start the new year off with an expert-led tour of Buenos Aires or set out on a day trip to San Antonio de Areco, a charming countryside town 75 miles from the city, both of which can be arranged for you by the team at Four Seasons Hotel Buenos Aires. For a deliciously local experience, learn how to make your own Argentinian empanada during a chef-led lesson.

Be at the centre of it all in New York

All eyes are on New York come New Year’s Eve. Stay at the recently re-opened Four Seasons Hotel New York in Midtown, putting you just a 20-minute walk from Times Square – close, but not too close to all the festivities. Or opt for Four Seasons Hotel New York Downtown for an ultra-chic stay in one of the Hotel’s recently renovated specialty suites.

Times Square is of course not the only thing happening in the city on the big night. For something a bit more subdued, meet up with friends for a celebratory dinner at CUT by Wolfgang Puck before heading to Holywater for an after-dinner spot to ring in the new year. This cozy, nautical-style speakeasy serves draft beer and cocktails along with classic comfort food and small plates with a focus on seafood.

If fireworks are what you’re after, stroll over to the Brooklyn Bridge to see the display going off at midnight over New York Harbor near Liberty Island – not to mention incredible nighttime city views.

Come morning, let the Concierge book you a table for brunch at a nearby restaurant, then pay a visit to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden or go ice skating at Bryant Park for a fun and relaxing start to 2025.

With nearly half of its 195 manicured trails gently winding between pine forests or down unhurried bowls, Vail has scenic runs for skiers of all skill levels. While less challenging descents are available for those looking for a gentle back-country experience, advanced skiers must tackle Vail’s infamous Back Bowls, or test their mettle on Vail’s longest run, the 4-mile-long (6.5-kilometre) Riva Ridge. When you’re staying at Four Seasons Hotel Megève, the area’s famous mountain scenery is on full display.

Timeless Alpine heritage in Megève

In 1920, Noémie de Rothschild, wife of Baron Maurice de Rothschild, fell in love with the traditional chalets, gentle slopes and brilliant Alpine sunshine of Megève. It’s here she decided to open her own ski resort, creating a ski lift, an airfield and an 18-hole golf course to attract celebrities and discerning travellers of her day. This tradition of elegance continues at Four Seasons Hotel Megève.

By the entrance of Four Seasons Hotel Megève, the La Cry ski lift provides direct access to the area’s famous Les Mandarines piste, making this the only ski-in, ski-out hotel in Megève. Aside from the slopes, Megève is just as famous for both its mountain scenery and its village charm. Put on your snowshoes and venture out on a hike at sunset accompanied by a professional mountain guide, or view the fresh snow through the beautiful pine tree forest from aboard the first electric snowmobiles in France, available exclusively at Four Seasons.

FOR FAMILIES

Take the family for a horse-drawn carriage ride along the village’s cobblestone streets, passing through the central square and various local boutiques. Available to guests at both Four Seasons properties, the Kids Club offers an enchanting setting for children ages 3 to 11. What with building snowmen, dog-sled rides, Japanese culinary delights and cocooning wellness treatments, there are plenty of indoor and outdoor activities designed to delight the youngest guests.

FOR COUPLES

Couples simply must enjoy a romantic meal at the Michelin-starred La Dame de Pic – Le 1920 at Four Seasons Hotel Megève. But for something even more exceptional, book A Night Above the Clouds, which includes a stay in an unforgettable suite set above the mountain restaurant L’Idéal 1850 and featuring unparalleled views of Mont Blanc. Once you’ve settled in, savour a delicious Savoyard dinner highlighting local cheeses, followed by stargazing on the suite’s majestic terrace to close out a magical winter’s night. The next day, relish a tailored breakfast while admiring the sunrise over Mont Blanc before being the first to hit the ski slopes.

7 Ideas to Add to Your 2023 Travel Bucket List

Every traveller is different, and the reasons we travel are just as varied. But travel brings people together and strengthens relationships in a way that Zoom and FaceTime simply can’t. Whether you’re still daydreaming about where to visit or are about to enter the planning stages of your next big trip, one thing’s for certain: Sharing your bucket-list experiences with the people you love most will make them all the more memorable.

Maybe living the island life is calling your name this year for a relaxing family vacation. Or perhaps you’re thinking about where your next culinary escapade should be – like the one you and your friends had in Italy last summer. Either way, planning itineraries to suit a variety of needs is an art form Four Seasons has mastered. Here are seven destinations worthy of a spot on your short list, along with ideas for what to do when you get there that will make everyone in your group happy.

Punta Mita: Meet on the beach

A quiet fishing village in Mexico’s Riviera Nayarit, Punta Mita is famous for its tranquil coastline, snorkelling, dive sites, surfing and golf. At Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita, the Concierge team can design group itineraries with the perfect mix of relaxation, culture and activity.

A prime Bahia de Banderas location makes chartering the Resort’s private yacht an ideal group excursion. The 17-metre (55-foot) ship is available for snorkelling charters to the protected Marietas Islands, seasonal whale watching and sunset sails. You can even take the yacht’s WaveRunner for a ride once the boat is anchored.

Back at the Resort, the private Las Manzanillas Beach offers an idyllic setting for an intimate family-style dinner served at a candlelit table in the sand. The low light leads to fantastic stargazing as ocean breezes rustle through the manzanilla trees. And once you’re ready to settle in for the night, you can take a moonlit stroll along the beach back to the five-bedroom Coral Beach House. With its completely private location directly on the sand, multiple terraces, personal media room, breezy layout and infinity-edge pool, this hacienda-style house is one of Punta Mita’s finest. You’ll have access to everything the Resort has to offer in addition to upgrades such as private full-time attendants, golf carts for getting around, and meals cooked by Four Seasons chefs in your own gourmet kitchen.

Meet on the Beach in Punta Mita

Vail: Gather in the great outdoors

A mountain resort is a great place to have fun boosting your adrenaline, whether it’s awash with snow or with wildflowers. And few do it better than Four Seasons Resort and Residences Vail.

Between December and April, enjoy an epic snowmobile tour with your group in Vail Valley through outfitter Rocky Mountain Adventure Rentals. Great for beginner and intermediate riders, set out on a scenic groomed ride on a two-seat Trail Sled, or book a Powder Sled if you’re an advanced rider looking to carve your own path across the mountain’s steep and deep terrain. In summertime, white-water rafting is an exciting bonding experience, as groups work together to steer their raft safely over rapids.

Agreeing on where to eat can be a challenge for any large group, which is why pairing a restaurant with an adventure can appeal to the whole crowd. For an off-piste dining excursion, book a reservation at The 10th, an on-mountain restaurant located at MidVail atop Gondola One. Surrounded by breathtaking mountain views, The 10th offers updated classics in a modern alpine lodge. When the snow melts, groups can go on a one-hour horseback ride, led by an experienced wrangler, up to Beano’s Cabin. This log cabin is known for its farm-to-table fare with seasonal items ranging from a foie gras and black truffle tart to elk tomahawk.

After an adventure-packed day, the Resort’s Private Residences are ideal for relaxing together by the fireplace for warm evening chats or connecting over a meal on the outdoor terrace next to mountain views. Ranging from one to six bedrooms, these elegant alpine retreats offer plenty of space so you can all relax indoors after your great outdoor adventures.

Hampshire: Escape to the English countryside

Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire is a restored Georgian manor just an hour’s drive from London and 35 minutes from Heathrow Airport. Set on 500 acres of beautiful English countryside, this is where the hustle and bustle of daily life is happily traded in for a bit of quintessential English country living.

Running right through the estate grounds is the beautiful Basingstoke Canal, where you can hop aboard the Hotel’s private canal boat for an afternoon champagne and canapé picnic complete with a stop at a local pub. Adventurous groups can tackle the on-property highwire and zip-line courses, ride horses, or learn the art of falconry during a Hawk Walk. The latter involves accompanying a Harris’ hawk around the estate under the guidance of an expert falconer as you learn all about the majestic creature.

Come dinnertime, connect with each other and nature during a barbecue supper in the historic Walled Garden, which has beautiful gates, dovecotes and some much-valued privacy. Enjoy a dinner specially prepared by Four Seasons chefs and a spot of croquet in the nearby orchard.

Three wings of rooms and suites furnished with English countryside décor adjoin the 18th-century Georgian Manor House at the centre of the Hotel. Groups can work with the Concierge to choose a wing that suits them best. Large suites in the East, South and West wings provide sweeping views over the Estate’s grassy fields, and the spacious Royal Suite on the ground floor of the West Wing features a balcony for appreciating sunsets over the countryside. But history enthusiasts might prefer staying in the restored Manor House itself. Built in 1728, it has seen many lives, and was even used to billet Dutch and Polish airmen during World War II.

Hangzhou: Experience an ancient culture together

“A voyage on West Lake offers more refreshment and delectation than any other experience on earth,” declared Marco Polo when he visited Hangzhou in the 13th century. Checking in to the intimate Four Seasons Hotel Hangzhou at West Lake – a serene oasis set right on the fabled lake – lets you fully immerse yourself in the rich cultural heritage and stunning beauty of this ancient city.

Bespoke group activities such as outdoor tai chi and guided birdwatching tours make the most of the Hotel’s magnificent gardens and lakeside location. Head off-property and go cycling together around West Lake, one of China’s best bike trails, or take a private tea plantation tour for quieter quality bonding time.

Mauritius: Embrace island life

It may be small in size, but Mauritius brims with things to do. A year-round tropical climate makes it the perfect destination to enjoy beautiful beaches, water sports and golf at Four Seasons Resort Mauritius at Anahita.

One can’t miss activity: A sailing excursion to a secluded cove on Ile aux Cerfs, exclusively available to Four Seasons guests. Famous for its white-sand beaches and serene turquoise lagoon, this island is just a quick speedboat ride away from the Resort’s jetty. Once you arrive, beach attendants are on hand to help you find your perfect spot, while the Beach Bar and Grill serves up fresh-caught seafood brought in daily by local fishermen, shareable plates, local beers and refreshing cocktails and juices so you can play castaway all day long.

While we wouldn’t blame you for never wanting to leave the beach, the Resort’s Five-Bedroom Royal Residence Villa is quite the place to come home to. Set on a stunning peninsula with mesmerizing lagoon views, its infinity and plunge pools, full kitchen, and multiple communal areas make it the ultimate tropical oasis for comfort and seclusion.

Chiang Mai: Indulge your taste buds

Travel and trying new foods go hand in hand. And digging in to a destination’s local cuisine is one of the best (and most delicious) ways to experience its culture first hand. Nestled among fields of vibrant green rice paddies, Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai is not only a tranquil haven for reconnecting with family and friends, it’s also an excellent place to experience Thai cuisine.

At Rim Thai Kitchen – part restaurant, part cooking studio – you can learn the principles of Thai cuisine in a Thai teak house, then enjoy the fruits of your labour in the open-air pavilion overlooking a waterfall. Cooking class participants spend the morning investigating the Chef’s secret garden for ingredients and then return to the cooking school for a hands-on lesson in creating authentic Thai dishes.

Or leave it to the experts and let the Resort’s culinary team treat your group to a custom meal in the Orchid Nursery, a private dining space that mirrors the lush tropical landscape of Northern Thailand and sets an unforgettable stage for a private family brunch, afternoon tea or a themed reception amid a kaleidoscope of fragrant exotic orchids in bloom.

When you’ve had your fill, head back to you private residence to relax or spend some more quality time together. The Resort’s Private Residences offer spacious indoor-outdoor accommodations that families and groups of friends will love. Create lifelong memories with game night, yoga lessons on the pool deck, friendly cooking competitions, dinner, or a private performance for you and your group, all arranged by your full-time personal host.

Define – and shop – your style

Denver stylist Koya Nyangi wants to inspire and motivate you to live life boldly, one outfit at a time. She calls on her clients to experiment and, most importantly, have fun with fashion: “Remember; you’ve got to try it. Be bold, be brave and be different.” A Kenyan native, a jetsetter who’s lived in London, India and Dubai, and now a transplant to the Mile High City, Nyangi’s diverse experiences in the fashion industry also include coveted stints at Neiman Marcus, Glenn + Glenn and the Denver Art Museum. Nyangi’s roots haven’t escaped her; she continues to advocate for African fashion brands and designers with the aim of expanding their reach to a global audience. To guests of Four Seasons Hotel Denver, she lends her international background and expertise, in the form of personally curated closets and exclusive guided shopping trips to her favourite boutiques, including Haven, Lady Jones and C.R. Lee.

In Chicago, Tali Kogan’s style studio resides in the posh 900 North Michigan Shops, seven floors of luxury retailers on the northern end of the Magnificent Mile. Guests of Four Seasons Hotel Chicago – located on the same block – can choose from a private consultation in Kogan’s studio, where she curates capsule wardrobes, or a guided visit to the city’s hottest boutiques, where store directors await with wardrobes Kogan has preselected especially for you.

When style is a priority but you’re short on time, Four Seasons Hotel Montreal offers direct indoor access to luxury retailer Holt Renfrew Ogilvy, where brands like Prada and Dior shine alongside the works of up-and-coming designers. The Concierge can arrange for an Ogilvy personal shopper to guide you to an expansive shopping suite where the latest pieces have been pulled for you.

Much of the fun of shopping is showing off your new styles afterwards. In Los Angeles this season, Beverly Wilshire, A Four Seasons Hotel launches an experiential series based on personas drawn to this glamorous city. First up is “The Dreamer”: an exclusive experience in which an A-list team treats you to some Hollywood sparkle. After your Rodeo Drive shopping trip with stylist Nicole Pollard Bayme, hairstylist Léa Journo and her team of makeup artists give your look a magazine-cover quality. Portrait photographer Art Streiber, who’s worked with the likes of Lady Gaga and Leonardo DiCaprio, captures the new you before a wrap party at the Hotel’s CUT by Wolfgang Puck.

Go behind the scenes

Glimpse the life of fashion icon Yves Saint Laurent with Four Seasons Resort Marrakech. Through an exclusive partnership with the Foundation Pierre Bergé – Yves Saint Laurent, you’ll explore Villa Oasis, the late French designer’s kaleidoscopic second home, with a dedicated docent. Marvel at the home’s interiors – a study in colour, pattern and texture – and peruse the same books, paintings and objects that inspired the designer himself, before touring the renowned Jardin Majorelle, one of the city’s most visited sights, and the Musée Yves Saint Laurent Marrakech, where a rotating collection of pieces from the YSL archives is on display.

Enjoy the royal treatment at Four Seasons Hotel Alexandria at San Stefano, Egypt, where you can explore the Royal Jewellery Museum – located in a 19th-century palace – during a private visit. Stroll the grand halls as you examine a glittering collection that belonged to the royal family of the Muhammad Ali dynasty. The collection includes precious stones and diamonds, a golden chess set, clocks, watches, ornamental boxes and even diamond-encrusted garden tools. An expert guide will be on hand to answer questions and share the personal history of each piece. Afterwards, savour a private dinner in the palace’s Royal Gardens, prepared by the Hotel’s chefs and accompanied by live music.

Find artistic inspiration

A sense of style, of course, extends far beyond our clothing choices, and fashion designers have long been influenced by myriad forms of art. Find your own inspiration in the undulating curves and vivid hues of glass art with a guided visit to the non-profit arts centre Public Glass, arranged by Four Seasons Hotel San Francisco. After a tour, a professional glass-blowing artist will teach you how to shape and add colour to molten glass to create your own handcrafted paperweight. Then head to Montague Gallery to view a mesmerizing showcase of works by contemporary glass artists.

The gallery scene is vast and vibrant in South Africa’s largest metropolis, where guests of Four Seasons Hotel The Westcliff, Johannesburg, may opt for a journey to the city’s most innovative spots, including the revered Goodman Gallery. Founded as a non-discriminatory space during apartheid, it has grown into one of the country’s top destinations for contemporary South African art. Also on your tour: Kim Sacks’ retail gallery, for African ceramics, jewellery and tribal handicrafts, and the legendary Everard Read gallery, established in 1913 and the source of many pieces in the Hotel’s own collection.

Bangkok’s Creative District, where stylish new showrooms and galleries pepper a historic neighbourhood of century-old shrines, temples and markets, unfurls along the small lanes that crisscross Charoen Krung Road just beyond Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at Chao Phraya River. The Concierge can arrange a guided visit to ATT 19, a showcase of ceramics, contemporary art, and vintage and designer clothing – all surrounded by a lush garden established by one of Thailand’s pre-eminent conservationists in the 1950s. Your next stop is P. Tendercool, nearby, where designers work with clients to create bespoke modern furniture. Break to refuel at Chef Chalermpon “Van” Rohitratana’s innovative haunt Dag, housed in a former warehouse and open late for after-hours gallery-hopping.

Appreciate street style

New York’s most stylish neighbourhoods are a clear choice for shopping – but they offer much more. Four Seasons Hotel New York Downtown will pair you with travel and architectural photographer Joe Thomas, who lends you a Sony A7III camera to walk the streets of Lower Manhattan, stopping to examine and photograph outdoor paintings, from New Yorker Dean Stockton’s comic book–inspired work to realistic portraits by Nomad Clan, a duo of female artists from England. Ponder Shepard Fairey’s depiction of Debbie Harry, across the street from where CBGB once stood, and Audrey Hepburn on Mulberry Street, painted by Tristan Eaton, whose works also reside in the Museum of Modern Art’s permanent collection.

In Lisbon, another street art capital, let Four Seasons Hotel Ritz Lisbon set you up to take a spin in a restored 1940s moto sidecar and traverse the city in pursuit of its most riveting displays of large-scale public art. Your guide will take you to works ranging from carved portraits by renowned Portuguese artist Alexandre Farto (also known as Vhils) to a 12-metre (39-foot) painting of Portuguese explorer Pedro Álvares Cabral by artist Nunca.
