How Four Seasons Brings the Holidays to Life

How do you envision your holiday season unfolding? Are you browsing through bustling markets along cobblestone streets in Europe? Are you gazing upon towering trees that twinkle in elegant hotel lobbies or in Gothic town squares? Or sipping gourmet hot cocoa on a balcony overlooking the Teton Range or at a private cabin in the middle of a city? Wherever you choose to spend the holidays, Four Seasons offers luxurious accommodations, incomparable service and unforgettable experiences. Here are six of our favourite destinations for luxury Christmas getaways that are sure to deliver your best holiday memories yet.

Big holiday magic in Austin

It’s not just a cliché: Everything is bigger in Texas – especially over the holidays. At Four Seasons Hotel Austin, marvel at the 30-foot (9-metre) Christmas tree on the back lawn and the 120-foot (36.5-metre) tunnel of stars. The Hotel also embraces Texas cowboy culture with an outdoor Ice Rodeo, open from November 22 through January 5. Live out your own holiday movie fantasy with starlit turns around the ice, arm in arm with your soulmate. Upgrade your experience with a private rink-side cabin that’s close enough to be convenient but still feels tucked away. Each cabin accommodates up to six people and offers luxe amenities, a dedicated server, and a selection of food and beverage add-ons to enhance your outing.

If you’d rather be an observer, The Deck Pop-Up Lounge gives you an aerial view of the festivities from the balcony of the Hotel’s Live Oak bar. Enjoy a specialty menu of martinis, oysters and more in a chic and cosy space with enchanting views of Austin’s wintry landscape.

There’s more holiday magic indoors with a larger-than-life gingerbread display. An annual tradition, the display features a different theme each year. This year, the team has curated a taste of the world, paying homage to Four Seasons properties around the world with numerous edible replicas of iconic hotels and resorts. Take the opportunity to add your name to the display by sponsoring a replica, with proceeds benefiting Dell Children’s Medical Center.

Rugged winter charm in Jackson Hole

The dramatic snow-covered peaks of the Teton Range create a breathtaking holiday backdrop for guests at Four Seasons Resort and Residences Jackson Hole. Experience a unique blend of luxury and rugged Western charm, with an array of festive activities for the entire family. You’ll also find plenty of complimentary fun for the whole family throughout the Resort, including cookie decorating, gingerbread house construction, yoga and fitness classes, whiskey tastings, and mocktail and cocktail classes.

In Jackson Hole, Santa arrives on Christmas Eve by tram, not sleigh. You can also skate with him around the rink at Teton Village, which is aglow with twinkling lights and festive décor, just steps from Four Seasons. At Jackson Town Square, enjoy performances from dance and choral groups, visits from Santa, and cookies and hot chocolate. While you’re there, be sure to snap a photo under the famous antler arches. The Concierge can help you put together an itinerary of festive local traditions to make your own.

As 2024 comes to a close, ring in the new year in the way that suits you best. Sip craft cocktails and nibble light bites in Ascent Lounge, or gather the family and head to the mountain for the Torchlight Parade, followed by fireworks. And if the dance floor beckons, groove the night away back at the Resort to the sounds of a live DJ at The Handle Bar.

Nordic cabins in downtown Minneapolis

Step into the holiday spirit inside a private Nordic cabin in the middle of Minneapolis. For the third year, Four Seasons Hotel Minneapolis will kick off its winter season with the opening of its Nordic Village, which includes even more private dining cabins for an extended five-month season.

“Our team at Four Seasons Hotel Minneapolis believes in winter, and we believe in our community. Inviting guests to participate in these seasonal events and outdoor adventures is another way we can bring people together and shine a light on our beautiful home state and all it has to offer,” says General Manager Florian Riedel. “When you stay with us, you’ll get the best of both worlds: adventure by day and city by night.”

Cabin options can seat up to four or eight guests and are part of the Nordic Village, which spans Riva Terrace and Riva Plaza. Step inside the insulated and heated cabins, inhale the aroma of pine cones and cedar, and prepare for a warm and cosy escape from the winter chill. Cabin interiors, designed by MartinPatrick3, an internationally recognized boutique dedicated to one-of-a-kind experiences, feature skylights, personalized Spotify accounts, and TVs for your favourite sporting events or holiday classics. The four-course menu includes onion soup, cheese fondue and Minnesota-shaped s’mores. Caviar and truffles are also available à la carte to allow for even more elevated dishes. Pair your meal with craft cocktails or mocktails, or choose from a selection of wines and local beers.

Need to get some holiday shopping done? The Nordic Village weekend market provides seasonal shopping experiences from November through January (with the exception of Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve). The market features local artists, makers and creators offering a rotating selection of toys, clothing, home décor, spices, pet food and more.

Home for the Holidays at Four Seasons Private Residences

They say the prettiest sight to see during the holidays is the holly on your own front door. For homeowners at Four Seasons Private Residences, that’s especially true. In London, Boston, Los Angeles, Kuala Lumpur, San Francisco and Bangkok, Four Seasons goes the extra mile every holiday season to make sure everyone feels the warmth. However you celebrate, when you live with Four Seasons, coming home always means coming home to family.

Setting the holiday mood

The smell of fresh-cut Christmas trees, the twinkling of lights, the colourful bows and other holiday décor can instantly put you in the holiday spirit. “Decorating for festive season is one of the most important projects for us,” notes Andra Bodea, Regional Director of Residences at Twenty Grosvenor Square, A Four Seasons Residence. “We aim to set ourselves apart from other residential buildings, and this plays a big role. We try to be very creative and bring excitement every year by transforming the common areas of the building into magic.” Each year, the teams across Four Seasons Private Residences work closely with florists and decorators to decide on a theme and strategize every detail. “We have wonderful partners and floral designers, all masters of their craft, to help us bring holiday cheer to the residences, always with elegance and tact to respect and show love and appreciation to everyone in our community,” says Eric Jausseran, Director of Experiences at Four Seasons Private Residences One Dalton Street, Boston.

And it’s not just Christmas that gets the spotlight at Four Seasons. “On the first night of Hanukkah, residents and employees gather at our menorah prominently displayed in the lobby to celebrate the Festival of Lights,” says Jon Ondrak, Director of Residences at Four Seasons Private Residences Los Angeles. “Throughout the month, we add special touches of holiday cheer around the pool and other building common areas to celebrate the season.”

In Malaysia, the major holidays throughout the year are typically Eid-al-Fitr, Chinese New Year and Deepavali (also known as Diwali). “These festivals reflect the rich cultural diversity and traditions that unite the nation in festive joy and harmony,” says Leena Ong, Director of Residences at Four Seasons Private Residences Kuala Lumpur. “We take great pride and joy in creating a visually warm and enchanting atmosphere in our common areas.” During the last Eid-al-Fitr, for example, decorations included intricate ketupat motifs and vibrant lights and floral arrangements meticulously curated to evoke a sense of joy and ignite the festive spirit. During this time, the team members donned cultural attire fit for the celebration – adding a richness to the festivities and an authentic experience.

While the common areas are often the most elaborate, every residential team also goes above and beyond to assist homeowners with decorating their own residences by facilitating tree delivery, unpacking décor from storage and then helping to take it all down when the time comes. In Boston, getting your holiday décor ready has never been easier. “The first week of December, we are planning a Holiday Tree Sip & Shop Market,” notes Jausseran. “The idea is to bring joy but also to facilitate it with an on-property holiday décor event where residents can come to the lobby and choose their perfect holiday tree and wreaths while enjoying peppermint mimosas, hot cocoa and cookies.”

Festive food and drink

Because many treasured holiday moments are spent enjoying each other’s company around the table, the residential teams put extra care into food and drink options during this time of year. “The holidays, for us, typically start in mid-November, about two weeks before Thanksgiving, with our One Dalton Wine Festival,” says Jausseran. “By bringing together 20 regions and dozens of professionals, the idea is to help our residents choose the perfect wines in time for the holidays and their get-togethers. It’s also a great moment of conviviality.”

In addition to creating thoughtful opportunities for enhancing residents’ holiday planning, the robust food and beverage programs at every property also offer tailored menus, personal grocery shopping and the services of a private chef for Christmas meals or other family gatherings. And although individual families are given personalized service and attention everywhere, many properties also invite residents to celebrate together as a community. At Four Seasons Private Residences at 706 Mission, San Francisco, the season always kicks off with a Friendsgiving in November, hosted by a local restaurant and held in The Club. “Last year, all our residents gathered on the club level, and it was a big success,” says Gina Thomas, Regional Director of Residences. “Michael Mina hosted the event, and he did a cooking demonstration on what to do with Thanksgiving leftovers. He turned leftover stuffing into bread and made an amazing sandwich – our residents loved this.”

The joy of togetherness

When you reside with Four Seasons, your family becomes a part of something bigger. Many residents have friends and family visiting during this time of year, and the residential teams are ready to welcome them. In Boston, the team at One Dalton invites parents, grandparents and children to a family concert by the world-renowned Boston Symphony Orchestra in November. “We are blessed that the famous orchestra hall is just a five-minute walk from our property. We’ll do it in true Four Seasons fashion, with hot cocoa waiting for the entire family on their return. It will really set the mood for the most magical time of the year.”

For young residents, the holiday season is often filled with thoughts of Santa Claus and presents under the tree. From letters to Santa in San Francisco to cookie decorating and a visit from the red-suited man himself at Four Seasons Private Residences Bangkok at Chao Phraya River, each team makes it a point not only to celebrate children but also to draw out the childlike wonder in everyone.

Giving back to the community

The end of the year is often a time when people reassess their charitable giving and make their final donations. With this in mind, the team in Boston began the One Dalton Holiday Mixer for a Cause, both to help residents decide on their final contributions and to build an even stronger Four Seasons community.

Every year, Four Seasons Private Residences One Dalton Street, Boston also partners with a luxury boutique that generously agrees to donate a significant percentage of the proceeds of the sales from the mixer to the property’s charity of choice. In the past, this has included Italian fashion brands Loro Piana and Brunello Cucinelli, with proceeds going to local non-profit organizations such as food banks, shelters and parks. “This is a great opportunity to engage our community around a common goal for causes and social impacts close to their hearts,” says Jausseran. “It is also a way for our relatively new property to partner with important neighbours and make a crucial difference within our community.”

There’s a similar spirit of giving at Four Seasons Private Residences Los Angeles, where staff and residents host a clothing and donation drive for families in the greater Los Angeles area, and at Four Seasons Private Residences 706 Mission, San Francisco, where the residents host an annual toy drive.

Personalized service with a twist

Four Seasons always goes above and beyond for residents, especially during this time of year in order to create a luxury Christmas and holiday experience. By getting to know every family throughout the year, supporting them in their holiday traditions becomes second nature. In London at Twenty Grosvenor Square, A Four Seasons Residence, traditions continue even if the homeowners are absent. During a previous Deepavali, the team kept the main door of one apartment open when the owners were not home to respect the tradition of having the door open for good luck and prosperity.

No matter where you live or how you celebrate, the heartfelt moments, thoughtful touches and genuine care make the holidays – and every day – special at Four Seasons.
